Interesting fact: per Wikipedia, each of the four Alanis Morissette albums since Jagged Little Pill has sold fewer than half as many copies as the previous one. That’s an impressive streak! Can she do it again with her forthcoming August release? I just listened to the new single and it seems possible.
In case you think nobody liked Alanis Morissette after the first record, here’s a spirited and very long appreciation of Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie by Glenn McDonald of the wonderfully obsessive and now mostly defunct music blog The War Against Silence. ”Thank U” is better than you remember, if, by any chance, you remember it.
Her 2nd album I felt was underrated, there were a few gems of there. I always liked “That I would Be Good”. Poor Alanis like so many in the 90′s just peaked on her first album. nice post I did not know this:)
She’d probably find it ironic… don’t you think?
As a Canadian I feel obligated, but embarrassed, to say that Jagged Little Pill was her third album.
The only thing I remember about her is this:
I actually found Flavors of Entanglement to be a good listen. Obviously not as good as Jagged Little Pill, but, come on, that album was amazing!
