The very first post on this blog was about Austin Grossman’s first novel. Good news: he just signed a deal for two more! The first one, You, is about computer games. The second, Crooked, is a supernatural thriller about Richard Nixon. I haven’t been this excited since they filmed both Back to the Future sequels at the same time.
After a listless afternoon trying to work up energy for lecture-writing, the title of this post has cheered me up greatly… (Agree with your earlier remarks on Grossman’s novel, although it’s a bit too melancholic for me to reread frequently.)
I just finished reading The Year of the Hare by Arto Paasilinna and very much enjoyed it. It was very sad approaching the last page.
If anybody’s interested in Austin’s past life as a game developer, I enjoyed the interview that the GAMBIT lab did with him a couple of months ago about his Looking Glass days: http://gambit.mit.edu/updates/2011/02/looking_glass_studios_intervie.php
