- Language Log thinks about the “Yeah, no….” construction, using the LDC Online database of transcribed English conversation. Feedback from his erudite readers here. Me, I think I start a sentence with “Yeah, no” when I want to agree with what’s been said but I want to add some extra information as well — so “Yeah, no” is short for “I agree with you, but not to the point that what I’m saying is identical with what you’re saying.”
